A practice built on listening.

Stillwater began in 2014 with one therapist, one green sofa and a simple idea: therapy should feel unhurried, human and within reach.

Our story

Fewer clients, more attention

Dr. Elena Ruiz left hospital psychiatry wanting to offer the kind of care she wished her own patients could find: longer relationships, real follow-up, and therapists who aren’t rushed.

Today we are six clinicians with different training and one shared rule: we only take on clients we believe we can genuinely help. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll help you find someone who is.

  • All clinicians licensed in Oregon, with weekly peer consultation
  • 25% of appointments reserved for sliding-scale fees
  • LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed and culturally responsive

Evidence, with heart

CBT, ACT, EMDR and Gottman methods, delivered by people who actually like people.

Honest about fit
